One of the most important aspects of quail hunting is having quality dogs to help with the hunt.

It seems all handlers have their own favorites when it comes to breeds. At Great Southern Outdoors, it is important for us to have dogs that point, flush and retrieve.  Many handlers will have a variety of breeds each performing a different duty on the field, while others prefer to take their one favorite out for a relaxed hunt with one hunter and one dog.

Distinctive quail hunting breeds commonly are pointers, flushers, or retrievers, however many of the breeds will perform more than one of these tasks.

Great Southern Outdoors pointers will also retrieve. Our newest member of the Company; Jackson, more fondly called Jack, is half Labrador and half Springer Spaniel. We are training Jack to be a flushing and retrieving dog.

When it comes to quail hunting; it doesn’t get any better than watching the dogs work.
